Blood Angels

Drawn with black, white and primary colour oil pastels on black card. This is only really a test in drawing coloured light sources, in preparation for a future piece which will be a redrawing of a scene from the old Tranformers comics. I chose Blood Angels as this provided a load of red armour - tricky to depict under a green light - and of course Mephiston's phsychic powers provided an excellent light source. Threw in a dead Tyranid Warrior to give a little foreground detail, and whilst drawing this in Games Workshop Nottingham the staff's work on scenery gave me ideas for the background.

I made the highlights by mixing pieces of pastel up to make a light green and then applying tiny pieces onto the card which I then used as thick oil paint with a metal spatula. Anybody got any other tips on drawing light sources, I'd like to hear them.
